Look I get it, it was to tempting; but unless you're willing to go on the run it's not going to work out. When someone accidentally mails you a package (puts your address) it's legally yours it's basically a gift. Someone in Florida got a 50 cal rifle even though they didn't ask for it, they ended up returning it to the retailer for store credit and the store was grateful because they knew it could have just been kept. But if the address isn't yours and it lands on your porch, that's actually theft you're responsible to notify the postmen/fedex, or you could take it to the address if you're feeling kind. Likewise if money ends up in your account, be it your employer accidentally paid you a year wage, a cash app/venmo/paypal app accidentally deposits money, or if it's your own bank/another bank; all it takes is a quick google and you know it's NOT your money. It can become your money but there's a process and ain't no way the bank would ignore you notifying them to the fact "you accidentally deposited $120,000 into my account...". If they do there's a time period you wait after notifying them and you can keep it. I get it, free money especially that amount can be life changing, but spending money that isn't yours is also life changing... just not in a good way. Even as a child I knew if I found money at school I am legally responsible to turn it into the lost and found and if it doesn't get claimed (appropriately) THEN it becomes mine. This wasn't finders keepers, it was someone fucked up and any adult would know that. I get it, banks suck and if they accidentally "lost" your money they will be a pain to deal with but legally they have to return your money. Which to be clear is what happened to someone else here. You think this is the banks money? Banks don't have their own money on hand it's all loaned out, they borrow yours to make theirs, then loan it out to make more. This is another persons money and they spent it hoping the bank would eat the loss out of what, the goodness of the banks heart? By spending that persons money they've made this a mess, not the other person might have tot hire an attorney and sue the bank to force the bank to make good on the stolen amount, then the bank will have to sue the people who spent the money that wasn't theirs. If we're talking like ten million or something it might be worth fleeing the country, but unless you're willing to flee to a non-extradition nation, or live a life on the run from the law in the country; you will ruin your life spending someone elses money just because it showed up in your account.

As security guard I don't report money, wallets, keys, phones, etc I found over the years, I make way more doing that :)
